South Sudanese model turned actress Anyier Anei makes her screen debut this year in the Chanel backed fashion drama Couture, alongside Maleficent star Angelina Jolie.

The Kenya-born Anei broke out on the catwalk at Versace's a/w 2022 show, and has since fronted campaigns for brands including Fendi and Balmain. Her life changed course in January 2024 when backstage at Chanel's Spring couture show, she exchanged emails with Couture director Alice Winocour; by the end of the same year, the 25 year old was on set filming in Paris. With premieres already clocked at TIFF, San Sebastian and Rome, Anei is sure to be a staple on this year's festival circuit.
